Important Update: Enhanced PHP Security and Performance on Shared Hosting

Effective Immediately: September 26, 2025

Dear ENGINYRING Customers,

We're writing to inform you about an important infrastructure update that strengthens the security and performance of our web hosting platform.

What's Changed

Our shared hosting plans now support three optimized PHP versions:

PHP 8.4 (Latest) - Maximum performance and newest features

PHP 8.2 (Recommended) - Proven stability with most modern suites

PHP 7.4 (Legacy Support) - Maintained for compatibility needs

Why We Made This Change

Security First: We have permanently removed PHP 5.6 from all shared hosting plans. PHP 5.6 reached end-of-life in January 2019 and has received zero security updates for over six years. In 2025, running PHP 5.6 on shared hosting represents an unacceptable security risk not just to individual sites, but to our entire hosting environment.

Performance Optimization: By focusing our resources on three carefully selected PHP versions, we can:

Allocate more memory and CPU to each PHP-FPM pool

Reduce server overhead and improve response times

Provide better monitoring and faster issue resolution

Ensure all supported versions receive proper maintenance

For Sites Currently Using PHP 5.6

If your site was running PHP 5.6, we've automatically migrated you to PHP 7.4 to ensure continuity. However, we strongly recommend upgrading to PHP 8.2 for optimal performance and security.

Important: If your application absolutely requires PHP 5.6, this is a clear indication that a shared hosting environment is no longer appropriate for your security and reliability needs. We recommend upgrading to one of our VPS hosting plans, where you have full control over your PHP environment and can implement additional security measures.

What You Should Do

Check Your Current Version: Log into your control panel to verify your current PHP version

Test and Upgrade: If you're on PHP 7.4, test your site with PHP 8.2 for better performance

Update Your Applications: Ensure your suite, plugins, and themes are current for best compatibility

The ENGINYRING Commitment

This change reflects our commitment to providing a secure, high-performance hosting environment. We believe in maintaining only those technologies that we can support with confidence and integrity.

In 2025, PHP 5.6 is not just outdated—it's dangerous. By removing it from our shared infrastructure, we're protecting every customer on our platform while enabling us to deliver better performance for modern applications.

Need Help?

Migration Assistance: Our support team is available to help with PHP version testing and upgrades

Performance Consultation: If your site needs guaranteed resources for complex applications, explore our high-performance VPS hosting

Suite Optimization: We're happy to recommend plugins and configurations that work best with modern PHP

Looking Forward

This optimization allows us to focus our engineering efforts on supporting the PHP versions that matter most for modern web development. Whether you're running WordPress, Laravel, or custom applications, you now have access to better-resourced, more secure PHP environments.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in ENGINYRING.

Dear customers,

We would like to address the recent service disruption that primarily affected customers whose network providers preferred our prefixes via Cogent. The issue occurred between approximately 19:10 and 19:30 UTC, during which traffic was impacted. To resolve the problem, we have now set Cogent as a low-preference route, and traffic has been rerouted via GTT and Hurricane Electric to ensure stability.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we work to enhance the reliability of our network.

Thank you for your continued trust.

Kind regards,
ENGINYRING.
